Water Features

Water features include a Pond, New Pond, Scrapes and a Winter Wetland providing perfect conditions for a wide variety of flora and fauna. These habitats are complimented by the Meadow and Grassland and Woodlland areas.

  Pond

Pond
~
Heron can be seen on the pond as can the electric blue flash of the King Fisher. In the summer Moorhens nest and the chicks can be seen scuttling around the pond while Dragonflies hunt overhead. In the pond margins Kingcup, Flag Iris and Brook Lime abound.

New Pond
~
Mostly covered with Lesser Duckweed for the later part of the year the Wildlife Pond is an important habitat for aquatic insects, frogs, toads and newts. Ragged Robin thrives on it's banks.

  Winter Wetland

Winter Wetland
~
The Winter Wetland is a remote area of the reserve not easily accessible to the public it therefore attracts some of the shyer bird species.

Scrapes
~
There are a number of areas which collect and hold water especially during the winter months, these provide special conditions which suit flora and fauna that need a damp situation.
