Eigth Year of Monitoring

This eighth year of monitoring saw an increase from 34 last season to a healthier 44. Numbers rose from 33 in 2009 to 105 in 2011 but flooding and mild wet winters saw numbers plummet to a low of 25 in 2013, since then numbers have averaged 44 a year. Highest number per month (minimum on reserve) were 31 in 2010, and 26 2011, since then it has been between 12 and 19 with this year finding the highest monthly total since 2011 of 22.

Box Surveys

Eight surveys were undertaken, Aprit to November and as usual data was registered with The County Ecologist, SeWBREC, NRW and NDMP.

Early in the season saw 30 Tit nests with 57% of the boxes occupied, the same number as last year.
